It's been quarried since ancient times - fragments of Thassos marble have been found in structures dating to 600 BC. The limited geographic source contributes to its premium pricing.

Thassos vs. Other White Marbles

Thassos is the whitest of the white marbles. Carrara marble has a softer, gray-blue undertone with visible veining. Calacatta marble features bold veining on a white background. Dolomite marble (Bianco Dolomite) is similar to Thassos in whiteness but has more visible gray veining. Thassos is the best choice when you want the purest possible white natural stone with minimal variation.

All grades are genuine Thassos marble - the difference is in consistency and uniformity.
